CFURLCreateStringByAddingPercentEscapes Quick Tip

It’s been a while since our last coding post for some reason our visitors like to view the photography section more, anyway i was working on a mac application today and found out that all URLs generated convert any # tag included in the url to %23. Please note that this is not an advanced tip, it’s just something for noobies that they might miss or don’t know how to do while still learning, I hope it helps everyone out there.

WordPress plugins that will help your design be responsive

In this post i’ve gathered some wordpress plugin that will help your wordpress theme be more responsive and mobile friendly, hope it’s useful for most of you out there …

WP Fluid Images

WP Fluid Images runs when you insert an image into a Post or Page. It removes the fixed width and height attributes from the image tag. If you insert an image from the image uploader, by default, a width and height attribute is inserted into the image tag with fixed pixel values. This plugin prevents this from happening, because this can be problematic if your theme is built using responsive design methods. The plugin also adds a style tag in the header that sets a max-width rule of 97%. This insures that any image in a Post or Page won’t extend past the width of the Post or Page.

WP Orbit Slider

WP Orbit Slider
WP Orbit Slider is based around the jQuery Orbit Slider from the excellent team Zurb. It uses a custom post type for each slide and taxonomies to create slider groups. The restriction is one slider per post/page. Don’t fill your pages with sliders. Use one. Make it bold and get your message across!

FitVids for WordPress

This plugin makes videos responsive using the FitVids jQuery plugin on WordPress.
The options page is located on the dashboard menu under Appearance as “FitVids”. From there you can add your selector and turn jQuery on and off.

WP Mobile Detector

The WP Mobile Detector WordPress plugin automatically detects if the visitor is using a standard mobile phone or a smart phone and loads a compatible WordPress mobile theme for each.

It is one of the first to differentiate between a standard mobile phone and a smart phone. With advanced mobile statistics, image resizing, automatically formatted content, and detection of 5,000+ mobile phones, the WP Mobile Detector gives your mobile visitors the experience they desire.

Respond.js

The goal of this script is to provide a fast and lightweight (3kb minified / 1kb gzipped) script to enable responsive web designs in browsers that don’t support CSS3 Media Queries – in particular, Internet Explorer 8 and under. It’s written in such a way that it will probably patch support for other non-supporting browsers as well.

WordPress Mobile Pack

The WordPress Mobile Pack is a complete toolkit to help mobilize your WordPress site and blog.It includes a mobile switcher to select themes based on the type of user that is visiting the site, a selection of mobile themes, extra widgets, device adaptation and a mobile administration panel to allow users to edit the site or write new posts when out and about.

Wapple Architect Mobile Plugin for WordPress

Wapple Architect Mobile Plugin for WordPress is a plugin that allows you to mobilize your blog in minutes.Every single mobile device is detected and all aspects of your blog are tailored to the visiting handset. Sites aren’t dumbed down to the lowest common denominator but instead use the features and functionality that advanced phones offer.

Devices are detected by using Wapple’s advanced web services instead of relying on inferior 3rd party tools. If you view your blog with a brand new, never before seen handset, it’ll still work perfectly!

Any theme you’ve installed and have styled for web will be carried across to mobile giving you a consistent look and feel for each and every one of your visitors.

The 1140 grid fits perfectly into a 1280 monitor. On smaller monitors it becomes fluid and adapts to the width of the browser.

Beyond a certain point it uses media queries to serve up a mobile version, which essentially stacks all the columns on top of each other so the flow of information still makes sense.

Scrap 1024! Design once at 1140 for 1280, and with very little extra work, it will adapt itself to work on just about any monitor, even mobile.
